Overview:
Most tourists have heard about many different beautiful natural attractions in Thailand as well as Chiang Mai is one of the famous place for foreign hikers where has 3 Thailand's highest mountains situated: the highest is Doi Inthanon, the second is Doi Pha Hom Pok and the third is Doi Luang Chiang Dao. 80% of hikers known Doi Inthanon as Thailand's highest peak and the other one that must go place where paradise for Thai and foreign hikers is Doi Luang Chiang Dao. (Doi in northern thai language is mean mountain.)
Doi Luang Chiang Dao as known as the last tooth of the Himalayas rises majestically where highest peak is 2,225 meters above sea level. In its shadow we found some of remote and many interesting rare plants and rare flowers which are same species as Himalayan mountainous plants.

Physical fitness
Trip Details:
Day 1
- 07.00 a.m. Pick up from your hotel or guesthouse and drive approximately 2 hours to the Park office
- 10.00 a.m. Training with Government officer to prepare physically and mentally and understand the rules and regulations before traveling to Doi Luang Chiang Dao nature for next day (1 hour)
- 11.30 a.m. Explore Chiang Dao Cave
- Have a local Thai lunch
- Cool off at Bua Thong sticky waterfalls
- 04.00 p.m. Check in to our basic bungalow in Palong Hill Tribes Village, taking a walk around thw village, play with kids
- Evening do cooking course with a guide for your dinner and enjoy Welcome dancing fro Palong Hill Tribes children at the village
Day 2
- Brekafst at the home stay and prepare to leave
- Stop at local market for some suply and drinking water
- Drive about 30 minute to check in point at National Park for documentary check, pick up out porter and nessesary items
- Continue by pick-up truck approximately 60 minutes to the starting point.
- Enjoy the nature walk 70% up hill approximately 3 hours through dry evergreen forest, moist upper mixed deciduous forest until to the first camp site and break for lunch.
- After lunch we will walk on hilly path 80% up hill approximately 3 hours, on the way you will be impress by beautiful panoramas view until arrive to the camp site for sleep.
- We will prepare the tent for sleeping then we will walk up hill approximately 30 minutes to the highest point of Doi Luang Chiang Dao (on 2,225 meters highs above sea level) to get ready to see the paradise of sunset in Northern Thailand.
- Enjoy the night with candle light dinner and enjoy seeing the stars on the clear sky.
Day 3
- The one of highlight when the hikers came to visit Doi Luang Chiang Dao is trying to force themselves to get up around 05.30 a.m. to walk up to “Kew Lom” point to watch the down of Chiang Dao and the sea of fog like you are on the paradise island.
- About 08.30 – 09.00 a.m. we will have hot tea, hot coffee and breakfast.
- About 09.00 a.m. we will continue by walk 70% down hill approximately 5 hours until arrive to the finish point. (Break for lunch as prepared lunch box on the way.)
- Drive approximately 60 minutes to the park office for rubbishes checking.
- Drive back to Chiang Mai approximately 2 hours, arrive your hotel approximately 04.00—04.30 p.m.

Very important: On the mountain, there are no facilities, electricity, hot and cold water, proper toilet (natural toilet is in the bush). Therefore, please ask yourself that you will feel comfortable with this trip or not.

Baggage: We recommend you to leave your baggage at your hotel/guest house if it is available or at our office. The less baggage you carry with you, the more you will enjoy the program.
Topography: Doi Luang Chiang Dao is situated in Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary encompasses 521 square kilometers and the altitude is 300—2,225 meters high above sea level. The whole mountain is consisted of limestone in Permian period between 230-250 million years ago surrounded by steep cliff and flat in the middle. Some part has lapies and sinkhole which is consisted of sediments of corals and sea-shell that made the geographer could estimated to the age and ensure that this area is used to be the sea in the past.
Climates: The climates of Doi Luang Chiang Dao are the tropical monsoon zone as divided to be 3 seasons:
- Summer begin from February to May; the temperature about 10 – 29 c°
- Rainy season begin from June - October; the temperature about 15 – 27 c°
- Winter begin from November - January; the temperature about 0 - 20 c°
Flora and Fauna: The mountainous park encompasses with dry evergreen forest, moist upper mixed deciduous forest, hill evergreen forest and sub-alpine vegetation, and from the exploration of the educators and botanic lists had indicated to the typical plants on Doi Luang Chiang Dao as sub-alpine vegetation group which are consisted of tropical plants, warm zone plants group, mixed deciduous forest plants group and endemic species which are able to find only on Doi Chiang Dao.
