Description:

At 8:30am a guide will meet you at your place of stay where you will depart for Mae Rim.  The first stop is the magnificent Maesa Elephant Camp where you will be entertained with a 40 mintue demonstration by these magnificant animals. It takes us about 40 minutes travel time before arriving at the camp located northwest of Chiang Mai city on the banks of a small river.  Upon entering the camp you will have approximately 20 mintues where you can meet the elephants and watch them bath in the river before your show beings.  For the demonstration you will see elephants perform various activites such as dragging and pushing logs, playing musical instruments, playing soccer, painting portraits, playing darts, and more. After the show you can take a picture with the elephants.  Before you leave you will have your chance to enjoy an elephant ride around the camp site (Elephant ride are optional!).

Afterwards you will head to Mon Cham for lunch. Located about 45 minutes North of Chiang Mai, in the Mae Rim district, you will find Mon Cham Restaurant and Camping Resort.  Mon Cham is perfectly located high on a 1400 meter high mountain ridge which gives visitors the unique ability to see two separate panoramic views, one to the south of the restaurant and a spectacular one to the north that on a clear day you can see for miles.   The food here is delicious and most of the ingredients are gathered from the surrounding gardens.  Prices are moderate with the average plate costing about 100-150 baht.  Although this is a popular destination for Thai tourists Mon Cham has yet to make its mark with foreign travelers but it can be very busy during the weekends and holidays.  Located right outside the entrance of Mod Cham there is a small section of the road lined with shops selling local goods and if you are feeling really adventurous you can take a “Go-Cart” ride.  A truck will bring you and a passenger, if desired, to the top of the hill where you can ride a wooden cart, which you steer with your feet and brake with a wooden handle, 400 meters back down the hill.  Go-Carts cost 50THB for one person and 80THB for 2 sharing the same cart.  Return to Chiang Mai by 3:00pm.

Tour Option: The final part of your tour you will have a choice of visiting the Tiger Kingdom, Monkey School, or the Queen Sirikit Botanical Gardens.  At the Tiger Kingdom you will have the choice of seeing and touching a cub, mid-size, or full size tiger!  Entrance fee is not included in price of package as will you have several different packages to choose from upon arrive.  The Monkey School is a place where you can see two different types of macaques.  They perform 45 minute shows where you can watch them ride a bicycle and even play basketball. If you choose to stop at the Botanical Gardens you will see 227 hectares of various exotic and local flora for conservation and research purposes.  Return to Chiang Mai by 5:00pm.
